After completing his youth service, he transitioned into graphic design, amassing over 32 years of experience in various advertising agencies in Lagos. He also founded his own advertising and printing companies, showcasing his versatility and entrepreneurial spirit.
Despite his successful career in advertising, Akinola remained dedicated to painting and has since committed to full-time artistic practice, allowing for a deeper exploration of his creativity. His works have gained recognition, with several paintings acquired by art enthusiasts in the United Kingdom.
Akinola is known for his unique style, Onaism, characterized by the use of shapes, lines, and forms. His abstract paintings often incorporate figurative elements, creating a dynamic interplay between abstraction and representation.
