This painting utilizes acrylic on canvas to explore themes within contemporary African art. The vibrant colors also reflect the complexity and dynamism of the subject matter. Through this work, I aim to engage viewers in a dialogue about cultural identity and expression.
This piece is part of a new series inspired by African proverbs that have resonated with me over the years. One proverb that particularly stands out is: "The neck that turns the head is not the same as the neck that supports the head" (Nigerian proverb). This saying emphasizes the distinction between influence and support.
I find African proverbs to be both inspirational and philosophical, offering profound insights into human relationships and societal dynamics. Through this series, I aim to explore these themes and reflect on their relevance in contemporary contexts.
