Full name: Chidiebere Ogo Umeasiegbu Artist name: Chidi
Chidiebere Umeasiegbu (b.1991, Anambra State) is a Lagos-based Nigerian visual artist. Raised in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, he trained as a Mechanical Engineer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (2017) before transitioning into the visual arts in 2019 through a period of artistic mentorship.
Working primarily in oil painting, he creates realistic and emotionally resonant compositions that explore the intersections of childhood innocence, and societal values. His practice merges technical precision with expressive depth, producing works that invite viewers to reflect on the beauty and complexity of our human experience.
He has participated in notable exhibitions, including the ‘Tiwa n Tiwa’ Inaugural Art Exhibition (Babalakin & Co., 2025), the 4th Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale: Green & Coexistence (Dafen Art Museum, Shenzhen, 2025), Art & Chess Exhibition at Fobally Art Gallery, Lagos (2025). His work has also been included in several Lagos-based gallery exhibitions and contemporary art auctions, reflecting his ongoing engagement with both local and international art communities.
Chidiebere continues to explore new themes and research-driven projects, with a focus on creating art that bridges cultural reflection, and universal human experience.
